8. Star Trek: Engage is considered a PG-13 zone. Language and themes such as swearing, nudity or violence are permitted within reason - these themes are not deemed so intense as to require that parents be strongly cautioned beyond the suggestion of parental guidance. For example, words such as 'shit' are acceptable, used with discretion. Strong insulting derogatory terms are not permitted. Detailing pornographic scenes or drug use is also not acceptable.

9. Characters that you create and develop during your participation in Star Trek: Engage belong to you. Participation in Star Trek: Engage constitutes your permission to Star Trek: Engage to injure or kill your characters without prior consent, should the need arise during the course of a story. Generally, characters are not to be killed on a whim; this policy is in place to prevent players from behaviour that would be unrealistic. Your characters are not invincible, and if they act as such will likely be injured or killed, hence adding a level of realism and danger to the missions. If you action your character jumping out an airlock without proper equipment, chances are he/she will die. Furthermore, if you wish to severely injure/kill your character, you must inform your ship manager so that they can work it into the mission. You own the character; Star Trek: Engage 'owns' the universe he/she plays in.

10. Star Trek: Engage is permitted to use your characters information and actions in game materials. Star Trek: Engage will not action your character doing something without your permission, nor will they add to the character's history. You may develop your character as you wish through logs, missions, writing, etc. However, character developments must be approved by Star Trek: Engage personnel staff or your ship manager to be used in game. This ensures continuity, and to prevent superhero characters.

11. Any information collected by Star Trek: Engage shall be utilized solely for internal purposes. The data is utilized primarily for marketing demographics, management and notifications. Star Trek: Engage will make every attempt to protect your information and will never distribute it without your consent unless criminal activity has taken place, or appropriate authorities request it legally.
