Physical Description:
Ilia (AYE-lee-uh) has always been small for an Andorian, and it's likely contributed to her adversarial nature; she's had to fight to get respect amongst her peers all her life, and it shows. She carries herself seriously at all times, always standing straight, and moving briskly. Even the tense inflection in her voice is an attempt to make up for her stature; a serious, business-like staccato that can easily be heard over the din of Engineering.

Like all Andorians, her hair is stark white, though she's toyed with the idea of dying it. Her head is shaved in the back and sides, the top styled differently depending on the day. Her eyes are ice blue, as appropriate.

She has a single piercing: a stud in her left nostril.

Family & Personal History:
Like the vast majority of Andorian children, Ilia was assigned to a mating group at an early age. Like many Andorian children, she wasn't fond of the arrangement. Unlike those many Andorian children, Ilia did something about it.

When she neared womanhood, she stowed away on a Tellarite freighter. When she was discovered, she implored the Captain not to return her to Andoria, and earned her keep by working in the engine room. She'd shown some aptitude for engineering, but it was on that Tellarite vessel that her passion for it started to show. She seemed to have an intuitive understanding of the basics of warp drives, and whatever she didn't understand came to her easily. She read as much as she could on the subject.

When the Andorian authorities came close to finding her, she departed, moving from ship to ship to avoid being found, always earning her keep with her mechanical know-how, and using every opportunity to learn about the different types of warp cores the Federation species used. This would prove invaluable when she joined Starfleet Academy at the age of 18, after finally contacting her family and tell them her intentions. She didn't apologize for running away.

Her early Starfleet career saw Ilia deal with a great amount of hardship. She was deeply effected by an encounter with an entity known as Silvia aboard the Bremen, and she blamed herself that entity's eventual destruction. She was later reassigned to the USS Sentinel, but soon had to take leave when the stress of the position, along with her shaken self-confidence, proved to bee too much to handle.

She was then assigned to the USS Cape Town, which was exploring the Typhon Expanse. While the posting had its share of unique challenges, it was also significantly more peaceful than her previous assignments. This allowed her time to rediscover her love of engineering, and her self-confidence returned as time went on. In fact, she earned her first real promotion, which was something she never thought would happen.

On Stardate 11606.17, the Cape Town was damaged and ultimately destroyed by a subspace disruption. Ilia remained in Engineering with a handful of volunteers to buy the crew as much time as possible to evacuate. As a result, zero hands were lost with the ship.

For her efforts, Ilia was promoted to full Lieutenant. After debrief and a mandatory leave, Ilia was ready to return to active duty. She applied for the position of Chief Engineering Officer on the Sentinel as a challenge to herself.

Educational History:
Ilia has excelled at her engineering courses at the Academy, though her other subjects lagged a bit. She failed basic tactical training on multiple occasions due to fear of using phasers. She finally managed to complete the course, but it took a lot of mental conditioning, and perhaps a bit of chemical encouragement, though multiple academic inquiries have failed to prove anything.

Medical History:
Ilia is in good overall health.

Her hands have several small scars from various nicks and cuts that went un-regenerated.
