The USS Bremen continues to fly through space, inside the crew work tirelessly to track down the murderer of their crew-mate

<<<Resume Mission>>>

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto: CO: Captain, this capsules is completely inert. There is no cause for alarm.

CTO Lt Sumner:

::taps his combadge as he waits for Noran to be brought to his office:: *CO*: Sumner to the bridge.

TAC Ens Darloch:

::continues to go through security logs to see what can be found for time of murder::

XO Cmdr Jameson:

::Walks out of the turbolift, onto the bridge::

CMO Lt Ecchumati:

::in the morgue, taps her combadge:: *XO*: Ecchumati to Commander Jameson.

CO Cmdr Griffiths:

::raises an eyebrow slightly:: CEO: That's pleasant to know. But, we didn't know that when it was brought onto the bridge. Please run a full analysis, I want to know when it was put there, what it was used for and who was the last person to touch it.

CO Cmdr Griffiths:

::taps his comm badge:: *CTO*: Go ahead, Lieutenant.

XO Cmdr Jameson:

::Pauses, before entering the command circle:: CMO: Jameson here ::Looks around the Bridge for the Captain::

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

CO: I have already started, Captain. You will get the results of my scans soon.

CTO Lt Sumner:

*CO*: I take it Ensign Darloch wasn't forthcoming with details about the canister. It's what the nitrogen was released from. There's a timer on it, but it's burnt out; I wanted Adalberto to check the memory circuits to see if he could tell how much time it was set for, so we could tell when it was planted.

CMO Lt Ecchumati:

*XO*: Commander, I've finished the autopsy of Mr. Ashington. ::looking over a padd with her results:: My initial suspicions were correct. Cause of death hypoxia, excessive nitrogen inhaled over an extended period of time. There's nothing else unusual to report.

CO Cmdr Griffiths:

::nods:: *CTO*: Understood, Mister Sumner. He's looking at it right now. Have you gotten word from Crewman Noran yet?

XO Cmdr Jameson:

::Overhears Sumner talking to Griffiths, and thinks that the canister being the release mechanism makes sense::

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

SCI: Ensign...::furrows his brow trying to remember her name:: Ensign, please run a tissue sample analyzes on the canister, see if there's any genetic material to be found. I am linking you to my scans now.

CTO Lt Sumner:

*CO*: He's on his way down for questioning. As an aside, I don't enjoy having my competence questioned in inter-departmental memos. It's... just not endearing, sir.

XO Cmdr Jameson:

*CMO*: Thanks Doctor. That's both good and bad news. At least it's what we suspected.

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

::smiles slightly at Henry's remark as he continues his scans on the timing mechanism::

CMO Lt Ecchumati:

*XO*: Indeed. Ecchumati out.

SCI Ens shHruvek:

CEO: If I find anything, should I...run it through the personnel database for any matches, sir? ::it's pretty rhetorical, but still, 'someone you know is a murderer' is not a fun thought::

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

SCI: Start there, then work your way upwards.

XO Cmdr Jameson:

::Adds a few notes to the report on her PADD, feeling that she doesn't really have anything to report. Just a profile on the victim::

CO Cmdr Griffiths:

*CTO*: Like I said, Lieutenant; You can speak to me about it in my ready room if you'd like. Griffiths out. :;taps his comm badge with an air of finality::

CTO Lt Sumner:

::took a bit more joy in that than he should have::

XO Cmdr Jameson:

::Goes and sits in the XO Chair, turning her screen so she can carry on work trying to find out personal information on Ashington, his friends, his social habits, who he came into contact with in his last days::

Noran Dest:

::hits them chime on the Security Chief's office door, shifting from foot to foot slightly::

CTO Lt Sumner:

Noran: Come in, Mr. Noran. ::scrolls idly through a PADD::

Noran Dest:

::steps into the door as it whisks open, nodding:: CTO: Lieutenant. Crewman Noran, reporting as ordered.

CTO Lt Sumner:

::indicates the chair on the other side of his desk:: Noran: Have a seat. I'd like to start with a personal question, if you don't mind.

CMO Lt Ecchumati:

::pushes the button on the bed for the corpse to go back out of view, and turns to leave the morgue::

Noran Dest:

::sits down at the desk, nodding to the CTO:: CTO: Of course, Lieutenant. Ask what you need.

CTO Lt Sumner:

Noran: Are you a follower of the Prophets, Mr. Noran?

Noran Dest:

::frowns, his eyes shifting back and forth:: CTO: That's a very personal question, Sir...

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

CO: Captain, as my earlier report entailed, the gas release mechanism on the cylinder was adapted from what seems to be a generic aerosol release mechanism found in Bajoran agricultural schematics. Now the computer has finished comparing the cylinder itself to known designs, and it seems the design is a match for a geo-conditioning cylinder used in terraforming operations.

CTO Lt Sumner:

::nods:: Noran: It is, and you're free not to answer it. I assure you it's relevant, however, and will have no effect on my opinion of you, or your potential involvement with this case.

CMO Lt Ecchumati:

::enters sickbay:: Mendoza: Did security deliver that earring yet, Carla?

SCI Ens shHruvek:

::frowns at the results of scans:: CEO: Sir? There's not a lot to go on here. Seems like it's been handled too much to get anything damning from it. Thankfully, 'not a lot' doesn't mean 'nothing'.

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

::looks over at the Andorian:: SCI: You have something to report?

Noran Dest:

::shakes his head slowly, looking down, a wash of sadness coming over his face:: CTO: I don't. Not since...::shaking his head again, he looks up:: I am not a religious person, Lieutenant.

XO Cmdr Jameson:

::Sighs to herself, as she carries on back tracing Ashington's movements for anything potentially suspicious::

CMO Lt Ecchumati:

<Nurse_Mendoza> ::nods, gesturing to where it sits at a work bench:: CMO: Yes Doctor, just a few minutes ago.

CTO Lt Sumner:

::nods his understanding, and shows him the PADD with a picture of the earring:: Noran: Do you recognize this earring, Mr. Noran?

Noran Dest:

<CO_Cmdr_Griffiths> CEO: Terra-forming operations? Was it part of the equipment we had on board earmarked for the Hooke, or is that just coincidence?

SCI Ens shHruvek:

CEO: I can tell you that a Vulcan's handled this at some point, and there's some Human and Bajoran traces as well.

CMO Lt Ecchumati:

::nods thanks and moves over to get started on the DNA analysis::

Noran Dest:

::takes the PADD and looks at it before shaking his head:: CTO: Sorry, sir. It's a popular design.

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

CO: The serial number has been scrubbed off, but the computer is running a spectral analysis, I think I can clear it up in a few minutes.

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

SCI: Run them against our database, Ensign.

CTO Lt Sumner:

Noran: So you've seen one like it before. Any on the ship?

Noran Dest:

::nods:: CTO: A few, yes.

CTO Lt Sumner:

::nods some, taking back the PADD:: Noran: Where were you at 1415 hours?

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

::goes over the report on the timing mechanism as the computer finished compiling it::

Noran Dest:

::tilts his head as if trying to remember:: CTO: I was on my duty shift, down in Engineering. I think I was running a diagnostic on one of the gel packs.

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

::Taps his badge:: *CMO*: Adalberto to Sickbay.

CTO Lt Sumner:

Noran: Did you access the environmental controls?

CMO Lt Ecchumati:

::without taking her eyes off the scanner:: *CEO*: Ecchumati here.

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

*CMO*: Doc, do you have a time of death for me?

SCI Ens shHruvek:

CEO: There's not enough here to match any specific person, just enough to tell me that at some point, one or more people of Vulcan, Bajoran, and Human profiles touched this at some point. I'm afraid I can't do anything better than that.

Noran Dest:

::scratches his chin for a moment, thinking:: CTO: There was a power spike in the environmental controls linked to that gel pack node, but then so were sonic showers, waste disposal, heating...I probably logged into a log of systems there, sir.

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

SCI: Alright, send your report to Lieutenant Sumner. Keep at it, perhaps we'll get lucky.

CTO Lt Sumner:

::makes a note for Adalberto to look into that:: Noran: What do you know about Mr. Ashington?

CMO Lt Ecchumati:

*CEO*: Yes, about 7 hours ago now, my autopsy showed cause of death as we suspected, hypoxia.

XO Cmdr Jameson:

::Starts to get a small headache, watching the monotony of Ashington's life, wondering if someone watching hers would think the same::

CMO Lt Ecchumati:

::has a strong urge for some coffee::

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

::reads the report on the timer:: *CMO*: Thanks Doc. I am sending you my report on the timing mechanism....according to my numbers, it activated somewhere between 30 to 60 minutes before time of death.

Noran Dest:

::shrugs slightly, feeling a little uncomfortable talking about his dead friend:: CTO: He was a nice person, always smiling. Happy, you know? Pretty clean, always willing to lend a hand. He even joined in our poker games sometimes.

CTO Lt Sumner:

::smiles some:: Noran: Hold 'em or stud?

Noran Dest:

::smiles slightly:: CTO: Stud, although we play Hold 'Em now and again if the mood swings that way.

CTO Lt Sumner:

Noran: How big a group? Regulars, I assume.

CMO Lt Ecchumati:

::moves to get a coffee as the DNA analysis continues, knowing it might be a while, but hears it beeping completion even before the coffee materializes:: Self: Hmm.. Faster computer than my last assignment.

Noran Dest:

::nods again:: CTO: Just some of my friends, we've been together for a while now, different assignments, planets and stations.

TAC Ens Darloch:

:: sends CTO list of names who entered room in last 24 hours::

SCI Ens shHruvek:

::and Sumner is...the new CTO? right. she did not forget that or have to quickly look that up or anything of the sort. nope. sending that short report off to Sumner then.::

CMO Lt Ecchumati:

::looks over the results and runs a comparison against the crew on record:: *XO*: Sickbay to Jameson.

CTO Lt Sumner:

::looks to his PADD as it beeps:: Noran: When was the last time you guys played?

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

::gets his results on the ID marker:: CO: Captain, the cylinder was in fact was part of the equipment that the terraforming team brought with them before transferring to the Hooke.

XO Cmdr Jameson:

::Feels relieved to hear her voice, so she can tear away from the screen:: *CMO*: It's good to hear your voice Doctor

Noran Dest:

CTO: Yesterday evening, about 2000 hours. That....::swallows::....That was the last time I saw Bill. He was feeling tired, didn't want to join the game and went to bed.

CTO Lt Sumner:

Noran: Your friends; all Bajoran? Except for Mr. Ashington, of course.

Noran Dest:

<CO_Cmdr_Griffiths> ::snaps his fingers with a nod:: CEO: See? No such thing as a coincidence. Do we still have any of that equipment on board?

CMO Lt Ecchumati:

::slightly taken aback, wasn't expecting that answer:: *XO*: Er, ::regains composure:: I have the results on the DNA analysis of our Bajoran jewelery. It matches that of crewman Lott Dyl.

Noran Dest:

::nods:: CTO: They are, yes. Bajorans tend to stick together.

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

CO: I believe Operations might know more about inventory sir. I just arrived. ::smiles::

CTO Lt Sumner:

::nods non-judgmentally again:: Noran: Lott Dyl, Rena Sheef, Tegan Darik, and Kasta Lyra?

XO Cmdr Jameson:

*CMO*: Thanks Doc. I'll make sure Sumner is aware, and I’ll sit in on the questioning. If it doesn't tread on his toes. ::Smiles to herself::

Noran Dest:

::nods again:: CTO: That's them, yeah.

CTO Lt Sumner:

Noran: Did you notice anything unusual during last night's game? Anyone acting strangely, or talking strangely? Did anyone go into Mr. Ashington's room?

CMO Lt Ecchumati:

*XO*: Acknowledged. ::sips some coffee:: If you need anything else Commander, just call. Sickbay out.

TAC Ens Darloch:

::starts doing in-depth research on the list of people in the card game::

CTO Lt Sumner:

::sends a text message to Darloch to locate the other Bajorans on the list::

Noran Dest:

::shakes his head slowly:: CTO: Not really, Lieutenant. We've all been a little shaken up, tense what with the Order doing what it's doing. It gives Bajorans everywhere a bad name...

XO Cmdr Jameson:

::Taps her comm badge:: *CTO*: Lt Sumner, please contact me as soon as you are available

CTO Lt Sumner:

Noran: I haven't been able to keep up with Bajoran politics lately; it's actually kind of a long story that's entirely unimportant. What has the Order been doing?

Noran Dest:

<CO_Cmdr_Griffiths> ::nods:: OPS: Start running a check on the equipment manifest, see if we still have any of it on board

TAC Ens Darloch:

:: gets list of current whereabouts of the list and sends updated locations every 10 min to CTO's Padd::

Noran Dest:

::tilts head head:: CTO: They destroyed the USS Minotaur, out near Barisa. And they tried to destroy Sigma Rho station as well afterwards. It's been all over the news, sir. It's made tensions on Bajor a little....strained.

OPS Cdt Mor:

CO: Aye sir, reconciling the manifest now

XO Cmdr Jameson:

::Wonders to herself, as she waits for Sumner's reply, whether Ashington and Dyl were having an affair, explaining the presence of the earring::

CTO Lt Sumner:

::frowns somewhat, being intimately familiar with what happened on the Rho; at least as familiar as you can be without having been there:: Noran: You're talking about this New Kai cult... odd that you would refer to them as 'The Order.'

Noran Dest:

::shrugs:: CTO: Not really, sir. "The Order Of The New Kai" is a little bit of a mouthful, FNN have been shortening it and it sticks.

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

CO: We have also ascertained that the timing mechanism fired somewhere between 30 and 60 minutes prior to Mr. Ashington's time of death.

Noran Dest:

<CO_Cmdr_Griffiths> CEO: That makes sense, if it was a nitrogen release canister.

OPS Cdt Mor:

C0: Sir, I've run through the manifest three times to be sure. It appears that all equipment was transferred to the Hooke at the last rendezvous

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

CO: Yes...well. It was.

CTO Lt Sumner:

::still thinks 'The Order' would refer to a lot of other Bajoran religious sects before the New Kai:: Noran: Give me a moment. ::taps his combadge:: *XO*: Sorry to keep you waiting, Commander. Go ahead.

XO Cmdr Jameson:

*CTO*: I would like to join you, once you have finished your current meeting. Would that work for you Lt?

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

SCI: Ensign, have you finished your report on that polymer?

CTO Lt Sumner:

*XO*: Sounds intriguing, Commander. I'll let you know when I'm finished.

Noran Dest:

<CO_Cmdr_Griffiths> OPS: Alright, so we have a new lead to go on.

CTO Lt Sumner:

::sits back in his chair, eying Noran for a bit:: Noran: Do you and your friends all feel the same way about the New Kai?

XO Cmdr Jameson:

*CTO*: Might be something, might not. We will find out.

TAC Ens Darloch:

:: sends CTO message did you want me to sequester the card game crew in a room for further interrogation for you ?::

Noran Dest:

::shakes his head:: CTO: There's lots of different opinions, sir. But it's all political, and it's all back home, there isn't much but hearsay and rumours to talk about. Or whatever the FNN broadcasts.

CTO Lt Sumner:

::sends a message back to Darloch saying to confine them to quarters, if they aren't already::

SCI Ens shHruvek:

CEO: Sir, it's definitely man-made, but I can't give you a whole lot more than that right now. It's a very complex compound, and I'll need a little more time to give you anything of value to go on. Assuming there's anything of value to be found. ...Sorry. ::sheepish::

CTO Lt Sumner:

::thinks for a minute:: Noran: Alright. I might have more questions for you later. For now, you're confined to quarters. Understood?

CEO LtCmdr Adalberto:

SCI: No need to apologize, Ensign. ::smiles:: Keep at it.

Noran Dest:

::nods again:: CTO: Understood, sir. Thank you ::getting up slowly, he turns and leaves, his mind wandering::
