USS Saturn 11402.23
Mission 01 - Ship Without a Rudder, Part 1
Summary: The Saturn has been given orders to explore new territory, however it will take a couple of months to get out there. The vessel is currently at station Sigma Rho. The Saturn has assisted the station with recovering some nearby debris and are now ready to depart.

Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::checks on the status of his Level 2 diagnostic of the phaser coils, standing at his console on the bridge::
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
NAV: Cadet Garrison, prepare to move us out. Everything fine with the engines, I assume?
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CO: Engines operating at full capacity Commander.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
::Sitting at his post on the bridge, humming pleasantly as he looks over the last of the reports from the various labs supplies.::
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
::takes a deep breath as he watches the viewscreen::
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
NAV: Good, good. Set to Blue Alert and request undocking approval from Sigma Rho.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CO: We have been cleared for departure from Sigma Rho. Standing at blue alert commander.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
*ENG*: Captain to Engineering, report on engine status, are we good to go?
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
::Swivels his chair around to watch as the Saturn begins her voyage, the tip of his tail moving in time with his humming.::
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
NAV: Move us out, cadet!
ENG_Cdt_Calverian says:
*CO*: Engines are fine Captain, we are good to go
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::smiles to himself, confirming an all clear from stations around the ship - with the size, it doesn't take long:: CO: Phasers, torpedoes and shields all report at 100%. Tactical is set, Captain.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CO: Heading out Commander, full impulse.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
CSO: Everything fine with sensors, Lieutenant? We will need them where we are going...
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
::Smiles a toothy fanged grin.:: CO: All calibrated and ready for new discoveries Captain. We are prepared.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
::wants to smile but is trying to maintain an air of formality::
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
NAV: Once clear of the station, set course to Delphi Ardu and engage at Warp 6.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
::Smiles even wider and turns back to his console, prepping several sensor packs for use upon arriving at their first destination.::
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CO: We are clear of Sigma Rho Commander. Course set and laid in. Warp factor 6. We are on our way Commander.
LAPSE: The Saturn left Sigma Rho a day ago and has been making haste along their course at warp factor 6.
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::keeps a close eye on the tactical sensors as they warp along::
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
::taps away lazily at his console, monitoring the long range sensors as he looks over several experiments being conducted in a few of the ships labs.::
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
::comes out of her Ready Room to see how everyone is doing:: All: Anything to report? ::smiles warmly::
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::frowns at his console:: CO: Sir, I'm detecting a vessel ahead on long range sensors.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CO: As smooth as a mill pond Commander.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
aTAC: Are you able to identify, Lieutenant?
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
CSO: Have a look at the contact with your own scanners, Lt. H'ret.
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
CO: It's right at the far edge of our sensor range, unable to tell Captain. We could try boosting the lateral sensor palette with more power.
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::fires the data along to the Science console::
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
CO: Aye Captain ::Pulls up his console and attempts to boost the sensors range. Reads the data and frowns.::
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
::ponders for a bit, then taps her com badge:: *ENG*: Captain to Engineering, we need more juice for the sensors, coordinate with aTAC on the matter.
ENG_Cdt_Calverian says:
*CO*: Yes Captain.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
CO: Captain, if these readings are correct... that is a Federation Starship, Constitution class to be exact.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
All: It wouldn't be a maiden voyage without a little speed bump would it? ::turns to the rest of the bridge smiling::
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::tries to boost his own sensor gain, but doesn't get much:: CO: It has a Federation transponder, Captain, but there are no vessels out this way that we know of. ::double checks by running it against the current database::
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
CSO: Constitution class? I thought they had all been brought out of commission?
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
All: That's a blast from the past.
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::looks between the CO and the CSO, nodding:: CO/CSO: About 50 years in fact, Captain. What's one doing a day out of Barisa?
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
::thinks for a while, then stands up from her chair:: All: This bears investigating. NAV: Set a heading for the contact, Cadet.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
CO/TAC: Could it be a derelict? Once we've closed in, I can get a better reading on its condition.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CO: New heading to intercept Captain.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
TAC: Keep your eyes on the tactical scanners, Lt. Brash. I don't want this to be some kind of bait. Be ready to go to yellow alert if necessary.
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::glances over at the Science station:: CSO: Possible, but it's moving away from us.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CO: Captain, they're moving away from us at quite a rate.
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::nods, readying the alert status and pre warming shields and phasers::
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
NAV: Increase warp speed to overtake that ship, Cadet.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
*ENG*: How are the engines holding up? We haven't had a chance to do a proper shakedown.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
::Taps away at the sensors, getting a better look at the old ship.:: CO: Captain, I believe this is the USS Dahl, reported MIA over 60 years ago.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CO: Increasing speed to warp 7 Captain. We should reach them in approximately 4 minutes.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
CSO: Bring up all you can on that ship, Lieutenant.
ENG_Cdt_Calverian says:
*CO*: Everything's fine down here Captain.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
All: The USS Dahl? And it's still running?
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::runs a full tactical analysis of the Dahl as they get closer::
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
CO: Understood. ::Pulls up everything on the USS Dahl, including crew compliment, science projects, and known refits or modifications.::
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CO: We'll be with the Dahl in two minutes Captain.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
NAV: It's not unheard of to find vessels still functioning after even hundreds of years.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
aOPS: Are we able to hail them, Ensign?
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::looks up from his scans:: CSO/CO: You say that... but this is a fully operational starship, sensors aren't showing any issues, they seem to be running fine.
Host GM_Andrew says:
<aOPS_Linfen> CO: Yes sir, hailing frequencies open.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CSO: That's true, but I can almost smell the mothballs on this one...
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
CO: The Dahl was under the command of a Captain Wilkins when she disappeared Captain.
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
CSO: Can you run a scan for chronoton particles around that ship, Lieutenant?
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
*USS Dahl*: USS Dahl, this is Commander Rakshama of the USS Saturn, please respond.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
CO: Already in the works Captain, I'm attempting to ascertain if there are any personnel aboard her as well.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
::Scans for any kind of chronal distortion as well as the crew compliment.::
Host GM_Andrew says:
<aOPS_Linfen> CO: No response, Captain.
ACTION: The USS Saturn arrives at the Dahl, both travelling at warp. The Dahl's shields go up and weapons arm.
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
CO: Captain, they're raising shields and arming weapons!
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
TAC: Bring us to Yellow Alert, Lieutenant!
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
:;raises shields and brings them to yellow alert:: CO: They've locked weapons, but if this is a 50-year old Connie I doubt they're going to hit us with much.
ACTION: The Dahl drops out of warp.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CO: Reducing speed to match the Dahl.
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::runs continuous scans on the Dahl::
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
CO: Captain, I've yet to detect life signs on the ship, it is possible they're running via automation. If so this could be an automatic response.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
::thinks for a few second, then taps com badge:: *ENG*: Captain to Cadet Calverian, please report to the bridge.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
::Continues to scan for life signs on the derelict starship.::
ENG_Cdt_Calverian says:
*CO*: Yes Captain! ::Teleports up::
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
Computer: Computer, display access codes for USS Dahl, authorisation Captain Rakshama Sigma 2 Delta 14.
ENG_Cdt_Calverian says:
CO: You wanted to see me Captain?
ACTION: The Dahl comes about to face the Saturn and fires a warning shot across the bow.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
ENG: Yes, Cadet. I want to know, would you be able to send an access code to the Dahl if she is indeed running under automation?
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::frowns as his console:: CO: Sir, they've fired a warning shot across our bow. No damage.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
TAC: Go to Red Alert, don't fire back but lock weapons.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
TAC: Despite the ship's weaponry being out of date, their weapons are hardly without concern. In fact...::Stops as he gets a response back from his scans.:: CO: Captain, I'm reading 80 life signs. Unfortunately, I am unable to gain further information with their shields up.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CO: Shall I keep a safe distance Captain?
ENG_Cdt_Calverian says:
CO: Should be possible Captain.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
::Scans the weapons fire to determine the danger to the Saturn.::
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
OPS: Try hailing them again, Ensign.
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::glances over at the CSO:: CSO: They're running Type IVs at best, and they have 5 of them. We just rolled off the lot with the best shield hardware know to Starfleet science, they could wail on us for hours and barely make a dent, Lieutenant.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
NAV: Keep us at a safe distance, Cadet, but not so far that we wouldn't catch up to them easily.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CO: Aye, Captain
Host GM_Andrew says:
<aOPS> ::shakes head:; CO: No response, Sir... wait... incoming transmission, audio only.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
::listens intently::
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
OPS: Put it through.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
::Smiles slightly at the TAC officer.:: TAC: Even a wasp can defeat a hawk if the gods favor, Mr. Brash.
ENG_Cdt_Calverian says:
::Heads to the engineering console and begins typing furiously on the keypad::
Host GM_Andrew says:
@<Dahl> *Saturn*: This is... ::pause:: Captain.. Wilkins, United Association of Planets.
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::grins slowly:: CSO: I'll put my money on the hawk.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
::Frowns slightly.:: CO: Association of Planets?
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
::confused look on his face:: All: Wilkins?
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::raises an eyebrow slightly, and checks the comm signature::
ENG_Cdt_Calverian says:
Self: And...send! CO: The code has been sent Captain.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
NAV: The captain of the Dahl at the time of her disappearance was a Captain Wilkins...thought I am uncertain if was THIS Wilkins.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
::is confused for a second:: CSO: What did you say the Captain's name was? *Dahl*: Captain Wilkins, this is Captain Rakshama of the USS Saturn, United FEDERATION of the Planets, Starfleet.
Host GM_Andrew says:
@<Wilkins> *CO*: Yes, well, pleased to meet you.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CSO: Yes, but how old would Captain Wilkins be now?
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
::Scans the hull registry of the Dahl, looking for any odd markings that differ from the records the Saturn has on the Dahl.::
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
*Dahl*: I assure that we mean you no harm, Captain Dahl. We are just curious about your presence here.
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
CO: Shields are still up. No effect on the command codes, Captain. Either they've been changed or...this isn't the Dahl.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
TAC: Not our Dahl, at any rate.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
CSO: What about that chronoton scan, Lieutenant? Anything on that front?
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
CO: No captain, I found nothing to indicate this vessel has been in any kind of a chronal event.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
CO: I'm continuing to look for other possibilities.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CSO: Maybe they haven't, but have we?
Host GM_Andrew says:
@<Wilkins> *CO*: Yes, Captain Dahl here, er, well, we're just on a routine mission. How about you?
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::glances down at the Captain:: CO: I don't think they are who they say they are.
Cdt_Brock says:
::stumbled into sickbay, bleeding somewhat profusely from the nose:: MED: Doc?! I need help!
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
::mentions for audio to be cut momentarily:: TAC: What makes you say that?
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
CO: Captain, if I could speak to you for a moment?
Host aTAC_Lt_Brash says:
::smiles slowly:: CO: They just confirmed their name was Captain Dahl, not Captain Wilkins.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
CSO: Here or in the ready room, Lieutenant?
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
CO: I believe we can ascertain if this is indeed Captain Wilkins simply by asking them to confirm the Dahls mission at the time of her disappearance. We have that information in our data banks.
Med_Ens_Wren says:
:: looks up from checking pharmaceuticals, placing down PADD and walks to Brock:: Brock: how did this happen?
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
CO: When faced with the demise of their obvious ruse, I doubt they will be co-operative though, perhaps we should aim to disable the vessel?
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
::nods to Lt. H'ret and then mentions for com to be restored to the Dahl:: *Dahl*: Captain Dahl, we are on a routine exploration mission. Can you let us know your current date and mission, if you please?
Cdt_Brock says:
MED: I was just talked to Jameson down near engineering, and the dude just punches me in the face for no reason!
Med_Ens_Wren says:
Brock: No reason? :: gestures for him to sit on a bed:: Please lean your head forward.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
ENG: Feel free to return to Engineering Cadet, unless you have some ideas that could help us.
Cdt_Brock says:
MED: Mostly no reason. I may have said something about his wife, but it was purely in a flattering fashion. ::looks indignant::
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CO: A recommendation Captain, if I may?
Host GM_Andrew says:
@<Dahl> *CO*: I'm afraid we're on strict orders from Starforce, Captain, I can't really reveal our mission details at the moment.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
NAV: Of course, Cadet.
ENG_Cdt_Calverian says:
CO: Yes Captain. ::Makes his way back down to engineering::
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
::Pulls up the Dahls final mission specs.::
Cdt_Brock says:
::sits on the indicated bed::
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CO: At the Academy we were trained to go with our gut feeling. And my gut says that something isn't right here. Can I suggest we go with whatever story the Dahl provides to avoid suspicion?
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CO: It'll give us more time to investigate exactly what's going on.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
NAV: I see your point, Cadet, but we don't know enough about the Dahl to really mount an effective subterfuge. We'll play it on the nose for now, though.
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
CO: Aye Captain.
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
::Taps a text message to the captains chair console.:: CO: Captain, there is nothing in the Dahl's records about a "Secret Mission".
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
CSO: What was their last mission, Lieutenant?
NAV_Cdt_Garrison says:
::squints eyes at viewscreen, trying to analyse the Dahl::
CSO_LtJG_Hret says:
CO: Routine mission, and a crew complement of 300, not 80.
CO_Cmdr_Rakshama says:
*Dahl*: Captain, we were just worried because you had been reported missing. As part of our exploration, Starforce had ordered us to make contact with you, if possible.
