CTO Lt Feyna

CTO Lt Feyna, Stardate 11402.17

She knelt there, holding the hypospray to his neck, trying to ensure that his vital systems remain active, and out of the corner of her eye she could see the medical team sprinting towards her.
She crawled away from Brax as the team took control, and she could feel herself reigning in. The tight control that she felt when emotion would not help the situation. The control that occasionally led to inappropriate comments and sarcasm, but was a better reaction than panic and tears. A memory flitted through her head of when she was told of her parents’ death, and the first time she forced that control upon herself.
Joanne stood, brushing as much of the dust and debris off of her as she could, before moving to her post, where she belonged. A few steps behind Rome. No one was going to get to him again, not again.

Klingons, Ferengi, tactical officers who are convinced they know more than their chief…..

The mantra went round and round in her head, almost becoming soothing in their rhythm. The things that were frustrating her that day. It’s a good job none of the senior staff were telepaths, she considered, as she brought the Raktajino to her Captain. Even that unwelcome habit seemed less annoying in light of the above points. At least none of the Ferengi had given her any unwelcome advances. Yet.

Jonanne knew how to handle Ferengi. She had dealt with them before, in her many travels with Intel. But she was rusty. She needed to practise her skills more. Protective duty usually means other abilities are not required, as shown when Douglas had called her out on her deception skills. Maybe that’s the reason he’s on the list. Not because of him, but because he had managed to highlight a fault that she hadn’t realise she’d been showing.

When things were back to being quiet, Joanne would take some time to work on them again. If things ever turn quiet again. She began to suspect that Rome, and therefore herself, were to become permanent fixtures on the USS Hyperion.

CTO Feyna SD 11404.26

She continued to work at her station, wanting further confirmation on what’s out there. She kept adjusting and tweaking her sweep, hoping that with each, she would get further clarity. As she worked, she couldn’t take the small smile off of her face. Rome, flirting? She hadn’t seen that for a while. Hell, she hadn’t seen him really smile since Idrani and Sara left. He needed something to smile about, and her company didn’t fill the hole that the others had left.
Hell, a psychotic attractive Orion might be just what he needs. He can save the day, and find some fun in it at the same time. A man cannot live on Raktajino alone.
Tapping at the console, she snuck a look up at her Captain. And yes, she finally considered him her Captain. It took a while for Joanne to become loyal, but once she was, she was formidable in that. The only other people she had felt that towards were Admiral Lyon and Admiral Miller.
Thinking about the two men, the beautiful blonde Admiral Lyon and his older husband, she left a little ache inside. It had been so long since she had been in contact with them. Since leaving SFI, her contact with them had been limited, especially after the XO on her previous commission discovering her work with them, and banning her untraceable comms. It hadn’t occurred to her that now she had left, and joined the Hooke, she could talk to them again. Maybe, next time she had shore leave near Earth, she’d finally be able to go round their apartment for a drink.
But till then, she needed to look after Rome. Dixon was still out there, as well as a myriad of unknown threats. And a beautiful Orion that he either need to be protected from, or thrown at.

Haha. I love that last line. I laughed aloud, Soph. Nicely written.

And yes, I miss the old admirals, too.

She could still feel the elevated heart rate, the light clamminess on her skin that was rapidly cooling along with her steadying nerves.
It wasn't Rome. It wasn't Dixon.
The memory of the comm with sickbay calmed her quicker. No one, except maybe Douglas, should have been able to see her internal panic. But she had to confess to herself that it was there. That, for a moment, she had believed herself failed in her personal mission to protect him. She could view the Intelligence officer with greater disparity, a colder logical ability. Joanne looked down at her screen again, at the minimal report she was able to get on Jerome Madsen. It appeared genuine, the codes she used were valid, so unless the Orion had her claws into more people than the Hyperion's command team, the officer was definitely in need of some rescuing.

Though, dependent on her persuasion skills, he might want to stay....
She smiled to herself, enjoying her own ascorbic comment for a moment, it also reminding her of Danann. Commander Danann, as Feyna should be calling her.
Still with the smile on her face, Joanne brought up the information on the nebulae, as she had on almost a regular basis trying to find something she'd missed, something that would help. As she did so, she decided to herself that she would allow herself to like the new XO. It had been a long time since she'd allowed herself that. Rome kind of forced himself in, and the Andorian, together with Sumner, had snuck up on her. But she hadn't spoken to the latter two since they had all been stationed together.
A girl cannot live on one friend....and the Admirals didn't count.
