Mission Arc #1 - A Fresh Start

Postby James Greenman » Sat Jun 14, 2014 12:29 am

Mission Orders, Stardate 11406.23

TO: Commander Nikolay Yeremenko

Congratulations on your new posting, Commander. Many ships have held the name 'Sentinel', and many Captains have have commanded them, but I know that you will do that legacy proud. The U.S.S. Sentinel, Registry 79088, has had the finished touches put to her hull and is ready for her shakedown cruise. Her first voyage into deep space.

Your orders are simple, Commander. Take the Sentinel out of star dock at Utopia Planetia, proceed out of the Sol system at full impulse and then set course for the Draylax system. Perform shakedown as you see fit during the voyage, then once you reach Draylax Outpost 41 will refill your deuterium tanks, confirm final checking and transfer the rest of your crew. If all goes well you can then proceed from Outpost 41 to Starbase 123 on the far edge of Federation space. Starfleet Command feels that it's time to begin pushing into unexplored space once again and the Sentinel will be one of the many ships spearheading this exploration.

Good luck, Commander.

Welcome to the Sentinel. We've been given the luxury of an uneventful maiden voyage. I think we can all appreciate a bit of calm while we find our way around, this is a big ship after all.

On the orders of Starfleet Command we'll be setting course for the Draylax System to pick up deuterium, supplies and additional crew. Once this is completed, we'll make for Starbase 123 before heading into parts unknown. Our mission is to fulfill the oldest mantra of the Starfleet Charter; "to boldly go where no one has gone before:" All I ask is that you be worthy of the opportunity that has been bestowed on all of us.

All: Attend to your respective stations and familiarize yourself with the Sentinel. Our launch is scheduled for 09:30, for those of you not assigned to the bridge crew, feel welcome to nevertheless attend the launch on the bridge should you so desire. You only get one maiden voyage, let's make sure we're envy of the fleet.

Our two main concerns at the moment are assessing the current situation on board the Maubry and the identity and status of the lifeforms we picked up on the moon's surface.

OPS: Keep a general hailing frequency open. If someone can tell us what's going on it will spare us a lot of guess work.

TAC: Prepare an Away Team. Assuming our transporters are an even viable option, it could become necessary to enforce a quarantine, so it's shuttles for this one.

CMO: There is almost certainly some wounded coming in. Depending on if we hear from anyone, prepare either your sickbay, or to join the away team.

CSO: That gravitational distortion is an odd coincidence. Try and identify what effects it could have on the ship's systems.

NAV: Be prepared to get us out of here at a moment's notice. This whole thing is very disconcerting.

ENG: It may become necessary to board the Maubry. Work with TAC to form a separate Away Team. We need to figure out the status of their warp drive.

OPS/TAC: Once we've picked up the survivors, gather any information you can on where the rest of the crew might be. Once they're aboard, unless they're in dire need of medical attention, head to the Maubry.

CMO: Attend to the rescued crew, and be prepared to receive casualties should be discover the rest of the Maubry's crew.

CSO: We're still no closer to discovering what happened here, so at best we should be aware that the same thing could happen to us. Monitor the away team as well the system and report anything unusual.

ENG: If and when you board the Maubry, work on restoring power to the ship. We need a better understanding of what happened out there.

OPS/ENG: We need to find out what happened to the Maubry and more importantly, where the rest of the crew are. Work with the away team to sweep the ship for any important details.

TAC: We have yet to rule out that a foreign party may be responsible for what happened here. Secure the ship as best you can and prioritize the protection of the away team.

CSO: Keep a transporter lock on the away team and coordinate the recovery effort with OPS and ENG when necessary.

CMO/AUX: Even the slightest details the rescued crew from the Maubry can give us may be important. Any further insight they may be able to give us would be greatly appreciated. And as always, be prepared to take on casualties should our away team discover the rest of the missing crew.

OPS: We need to get on transferring the 11 patterns off the Maubry and onto the Sentinel. Work quickly but make sure there is no risk of damaging them.

ENG: I don’t want to leave behind the 12th crewman unless we absolutely have to. If there is a way to separate him or her from the ship’s systems, we have to try. If we estimate it will take 60 seconds to reassemble the 12th crewmember, but 30 seconds before the Maubry goes critical, we need to find a way to buy us 40 more seconds.

CSO: Transferring power from the Sentinel to the Maubry looks like our best method to get us more time. Work with ENG on whatever it takes to get us those 40 seconds.

TAC: If the stability of the Maubry is affected by our plan to rescue these crewmembers, we may have to leave in a hurry. Give them space to work, but be prepared to evacuate our away team at a moment’s notice.

CMO/AUX: Once we have the transporter patterns restored on Sentinel, some of them may be require medical attention.

All: Our priority at this point is to rescue those 11 crewmembers. Once this is done, all non-essential personnel will evacuate the Maubry and return to the Sentinel. We will then attempt to rescue the last crewmember, regardless of how this effects the Maubry. Whoever stays behind will transfer the last pattern as quickly as possible before being beamed out.
