I think it should be pointed out that Babs translated it with just the 'e' character I gave her. Awesome! :allears:

11508.31 Translation part II
For reference: The second part of the Tkon tablet reads as follows --

When the flickering of life was found on a distant world,
an investigation was sent to bring them into the upper worlds.
A lifeform not of carbon, but of silicon.
Evolution through trillions of years had given sentience to mineral.

No anger, no emotion of any kind, simply the desire to expand and grow.
A planet stripped bare of its precious metals used in expansion of this
technological lifeform. Hungry for growth, it looked upwards, reaching out
those first tentative steps into the cosmos.

A second star system, another planet; using primitive means they bridged
the gap and flew through the stars to another pocket of riches and the
promise of growth.

Contact was lost too far from its host body. This second outgrowing of
intelligent life began anew, amassing and conquering the natural land.
Millennia pass, technology developing in leaps and bounds until the two are
rejoined in war.

The Tkon come upon them. Brutal fighting between two unfeeling uncaring
parts of one whole.

Contact is made, talks are brokered, but they care only for expansion
only to see the whole universe as one united as silicate to the exclusion of all
else. Dangerous, too dangerous; nor a peaceful galaxy.

Sealed behind a field of immense power.
Their touch cannot extend past it, and nothing can interfere with what is inside. Left to their own devices, to war and grow.
Never to harm the protectorates of the Tkon for all time.

11511.16
Rebecca drew the second Tkon tablet from her satchel and set it on the table in her quarters, examining it. Like the first tablet, this second artifact glowed from within, lit by its own power source. It’s purple light illuminated the semi-darkness of her quarters, glinting off of the glass-topped table on which it was resting.

They had gone through a lot to get this tablet. Because of her, the team had been almost captured by the Guardians, and Gist had nearly died. Because of her, the entire Quorum was probably hunting them down. But she couldn’t tell anyone she had it. Not yet. Not until she knew what secrets it contained.

Inside of the ruins, she’d had a split second to make the decision to grab it. And she couldn’t leave it behind, not after they had come halfway across the galaxy to discover the truth about the ancient inscriptions on the first tablet.

She knew her career could be on the line for this. She’d violated the Guardian’s laws, stolen the artifact out of its resting place. They’d forced her to give it up; and that would have been the last she’d seen of it, if the plasma lightning hadn’t knocked the entire group sprawling immediately afterwards. In the ensuing confusion and battle, she’d taken it back from the downed Guardian and tucked it into her satchel, safeguarding it until the team arrived back at the Sentinel. She reasoned that if she was going to be in trouble for having the tablet, she might as well try to translate it first, and then approach the Captain. At least there would be something to show for it.

Rebecca squinted at the markings through a fierce headache that had been building for the past couple of hours. Her eyes swam in and out of focus, but she kept going, determined. Eventually it became obvious that she was looking at what appeared to be engineering schematics. To what though, she had no idea. This was beyond her skills now.

She knew full well what her duty was, and dreaded it. She’d have to bring this to the Captain, and face whatever consequences were in store for her…

Nothing wrong with a little theft. :allears:

Nice log, Babs, I can't wait to see what comes from all of this - it's going to be awesome!

11603.07 Quadrivium
She was at a crossroads. How could she remain an ambassador for a federation that she no longer believed in? It was becoming increasingly clear that something was rotten at the highest levels of government. The evidence had been mounting - certain orders that they’d received regarding the romulan prisoner, the actions and words of certain of her superiors, and then there was the apparent coup that had happened several months ago, that no one seemed willing to acknowledge. A coup at the end of a war that had made no sense.. There had been whispers amongst her contacts in the diplomatic corps that the war had been manufactured.. but that was a thought for another day.

She wasn’t sure that she had an innate talent for it anyway. After the incident with the Guardians, she’d completely lost confidence in herself and her diplomatic abilities, such as they apparently were. She could manage Ops well enough, was still a talented linguist.. but the reason that she was here in the first place had evaporated.. they were no longer on a mission of exploration.

She would have to shift her focus then. Ops? Button-pushing was fine, but it was just that.. button-pushing; she felt uninspired. Science? She wasn't trained in it to any level resembling competence. Medical? Not her field either.. Command? Maybe, but it wasn’t her first choice. Engineering? It was a close cousin to Ops, and she still would need more training… But they always seemed to be short-handed down there, and she would feel more useful doing that than just pushing buttons.

Then there was the artifact – it needed an entire lifetime of study to devote to it. Several lifetimes, in fact. She’d been spending most of her spare time working on deciphering the lettering on the schematics, working with Hamlet on making sense of the gift of information that they’d been given. But it was just that.. spare time, and not enough. It really deserved a full team - scientists, engineers, linguists, medical, all working around the clock, and that, she knew, meant eventually giving it over to a fully equipped lab.. maybe on Earth, or perhaps elsewhere. Perhaps her real future was there.. and not on Sentinel? Another thought for another day...
