One or two newbie questions...

Postby Lee Tyers » Fri Feb 21, 2014 8:10 pm

Hi all,

Hopefully I'm posting this in the correct section. If not, feel free to move it. I've just got a couple of quick questions in advance of our first mission that I hope you'll be able to help with!

In relation to responding to my first mission orders, am I to do this in a report style, or can it be in the form of a role-play log similar to my Zero Log? Secondly, do I send this to the ship mailing list, or post it on the forum (or both?). Finally, my orders say I am to liase with another officer to put together my report. Should I be doing this with another player in reality, or is my report to simply state 'upon discussion with...' and then base it all on my own RPing?

Sorry if they're silly questions - hopefully if I ask them it may help others as well :downs:

Thanks
Lee

Generally, the mission brief is there to give you a starting point for the actual chat mission. One possible way to play it would be you walking onto the bridge, and handing your report to the Captain before taking your console. You are free to do a pre-mission log about it if you wish, but that's generally not required.

If you do decide to do a pre-mission log about compiling your report, you can either reference an NPC that you make up yourself, or get in touch with the Engineer player and do a joint log.

Hope that helps :)

(Also, see what CJ posted before me! :picard:)

Hi Lee!

I'm glad you asked, we're here to help! :)

The Mission Briefing that comes in are some basic guidelines for your character to follow when it comes to the actual mission in the Chat Room. I believe you're on the Saturn, so that'd be Sunday, right? Drop into the IRC server at the right time, join the mission room, and that's where you do your RPing and such following those orders given to you in the Briefing.

You are however always welcome to post a log about anything and everything to do with your character! Usually the logs take place in the time lapse between missions, but setting it before your character came onboard, or setting it before the mission to let people know how your character is preparing, etc is also good. Anything which you feel will give other players an insight into your character's motivations, mindset, all that good stuff.

If your find your Ship subforum, simply start a thread in there for your mission logs. :)

Let me know if I can be of any more help.

I've got a question: how do you work out the stardate?

I'll break it up here.

Today's stardate would be 11403.32

114 - The last two digits of the year (2014), with a leading 1.
03 - The month of the year
31 - The day of the month.

So the stardate for the 1st of June, 2001 would have been 10106.01, and the one for the 20th of February, 2036 will be 13602.20

Let me know if that's clear enough. :)

I've got lots of newbie questions, but I'll start with these:
I'd like to know where to find the transmission log from the chat for our missions? I'm a bit fuzzy on some of the details of our latest mission and I'd like to finalize my log. And for my Zero Log, I'd like to know whether my character started at Beta Antares with the maiden voyage of the Hyperion, or could she have joined later, after Capt. Rome took over and Capt. Brax was injured and (I think) taken to a med facility?
thanks!

For the first, you can click the Roster button there at the top, select the Ship that you want the see the transcripts for, then on that ship profile page click the Transcripts tab. They're ordered by arc name and stardate, you can just look for the latest one. :)

As for the second, you can decide that yourself. What do you think fits best with your character? You're free to develop her backstory however you think works best.

Thanks : ) In fact, the answer to the first question may have also answered the second as well. I'm still reading through the transcripts, but so far I'm finding them to be very valuable information…

I have a question! *raises hand in the back of the class*
Why....can I not comment or like, anything on the facebook page?
Is it because I'm not cool? Do I bring down your cred? :?:
