“Duty Log, Lieutenant Commander Marsland, Stardate 11408.04

First time under pressure at the Helm, and we're already in a predicament. We'd been ordered to investigate a science outpost near an asteroid cluster. Asteroid clusters are, in and of themselves, remarkable. I was hoping to try and convince Captain Yeremenko to let us loiter for a while to get my team in Astrometrics some good data, but now we're stuck here. When we arrived in the system, I dropped us out of warp and brought us closer to the Monmouth and the station, but the ship got trapped.

Upon further scans, Ensign Taylor, my Astrometrics goddess, discovered a cluster of subspace filaments that appear to have the ship, station, and the Monmouth all stuck here. The Captain appears to want to blame me for driving, but in the end, it may be my team that frees us after all.

End Recording.”

Our Navigations Specialist took another swig of his favorite ale as he watched his favorite Astrometrics Specialist from across their table in the lab.

“Now then, Ensign Taylor, tell me more about these filaments…”

Duty Log, Stardate 11408.11

We're still working on ways out of these filaments. Ensign Taylor has been lacking in her duties in that regard, but I still have confidence in my team's abilities to pull us through. Our Chief Tactical Officer is no more, killed by something on the station, something that has formed this subspace spider web.. whatever it is, it's alive. But we'll find a way out. *draws his phaser* I know we will.

End Log.

Duty Log, Stardate 11408.18

It came to me, as if in a revelation. We need to blow up the other ship here, and clear the webbing. That other ship has no crew - we have all the codes necessary to access the computer of the ship.

TO: Senior Staff, USS Sentinel
FROM: Navigator, USS Sentinel

SUBJ: COA WRT (Course of Action With Respect To) subspace spider beings.

The Prime Directive says we are not to interfere with the development of a species, however, I do think based on their ability to travel in subspace that they are warp-capable, and thus we can take necessary action to protect ourselves and the station. I am trying to reconfigure the Main Deflector dish with my staff as we speak to attempt to sustain this hull polarization effect. Captain / Senior Staff, use our SF Access Command Codes to self-destruct the other vessel here - that should cause minimal damage to us and the station and allow this webbing to be destroyed.

Signed,

I like Tom's ideas, I think there should be more blowing up of things. :riker:

That son of a bitch!

Tom paced his quarters. That did feel good though, he thought, rubbing his fist into the palm of his other hand.

York had been under his charge in the Science Department of the Apache when they'd had a bit of a fight over the same woman.

Rynia.. why did I let her get away?

It was all in the past now, he reminded himself. But they'd gotten married?! He fumed a little more.

Whatever. At least I got to punch him back. We're even now.

Reading through his record a little more, he winced. Oh, they're divorced... Well, maybe a drink or two can smooth things over.

Whatever the case with York and Marsland, things just got a lot more interesting.

Fantastic logs, both of you! I have a feeling that the Sentinel is going to be a bit more interesting from here on. :D
